Grape: Chenin Blanc
Region: Loire, France
Appellation Savennieres AOC
Here we have one of the Loire’s most lauded yet controversial producers. In a deeply traditional region, Florent Baumard challenged the status quo with his early adoption of screwcaps and a different vine trellising system, marking him the enfant terrible of Savennieres. This is a producer that believes in the individuality of each vintage, thus making his wine with minimal intervention to allow the wine to reflect its vintage and unique character.
It’s always an absolute treat to taste this wine, oodles of bees wax, honey and white spices on the palate with lovely ripe apples and citrus on the nose.
