Variety: Arneis
Region: Piedmont, Italy
Appellation: Roero
Piedmont is typically all about the reds: Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera. But the one that white that still produces some impressive stuff is Arneis. Matteo Correggia had no formal wine education, and learnt everything he knows from his father and mentor Elio Altare, a legend in the North of Italy. His wines are delicious and have great depth to them, including flavours of pear, apricot, herbs and lemon zest. These are beautifully crafted and ripe expressions of Arneis, and most definitely worth a try.
