Established by the Italian immigrant Don Próspero José Pizzorno during the 20th century, this family winery is now under the stewardship of the fourth generation of the Pizzorno family. Currently, Carlos Pizzorno holds the reins as both the head of the family winery and the Winemaking Director, with the active involvement of his children and extended family in the day-to-day operations.
Taking a sustainable approach to vineyard management, Pizzorno abstains from using fertilizers in the soil. Their cultivation strategy revolves around substantial green harvesting and meticulous canopy management, all aimed at achieving optimal ripeness and the highest caliber grapes. Notably, they exclusively employ estate-grown fruit in their wines. The harvesting process remains a manual endeavor, and the winemakers meticulously determine the harvest timing through a combination of sensory evaluation and chemical analysis of the grapes.
A deep, full red with notes of wild berries accompanied by tobacco, cigar and spice. An excellent complex red.
