Oregon’s definitely one of the heavy hitters coming from US, producing some world class wines that can easily rival their European counterparts.
The Sokol Blosser estate was founded by Bill Blosser and Susan Sokol in 1971 in the Dundee Hills of Oregon, some 30 miles south west of Portland. They were one of the first to establish a winery in Oregon, now there’s more than 700 in the state.
The 85 hectares of vineyards are farmed organically with a certification being awarded in 2005, their Pinot Gris is fermented in stainless steel to retain the varieties aromas of green apples and white flowers. The acidity is bright on the palate with a good mixture of citrus and honeydew melon flavours and a notable mineral finish.
