Yannick Amirault created his own domaine in 1977 with 3.9 hectares of the Malgagnes vineyard which he inherited from his grandfather. Yannick’s son, Benoit, joined his father in 2003 and today the domaine is now around 20 hectares. The domaine has been certified organic since 2009, and no chemicals or weed killers have been used since 1997. the vines are between 45 and 50 years old. All of this culminates in a winery producing ultra-clean and vivid expressions of Loire Cabernet Franc. Yannick even blasts classical music in his cellar for his wines to listen to whilst they lie in barrel. What's not to love about a romantic winemaker?
Le Rosé d'Equinoxe is a sort of blanc de noirs, made from 100% direct press juice. This unique, bone-dry rose has had the luxury of being aged in barrel, where typically winemakers will only employ stainless steel so as to maintain freshness. A more serious style of "rosé", which is a brilliant drinking experience.
